This is a signal to me that it has lost my Network Key or that the software has failed or both. The machine keeps trying to associate my previous entered name site with my prefered site and tells me the signal is good, but it cannot link up. If I then click on Wireless Information tab, The list of available networks appear in the box. That is a clue to me that the auto sign on has not found a viable network or needs something else. When I try to sign on with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I then double click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701 opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP address field, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway.
If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's back and using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally from the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everything including the WiFi RT28701 driver. This "KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your server computer. This will allow you to type in your "Network Key", the password that protects your network from outsiders. Uncheck "The key is provided automatically" box. Then another window opens up called Network Properties. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up, then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name of your WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. The red X indicates that it is NOT connected. It is looking for a password (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computer icon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. You can edit or add to the image as youwish, then print it.This ability to manipulate the image in a program before printing itis an improvement over the original DOS method of just printing it.No! you cannot use anything made for W7 on CE as of yet. Once it's inthe clipboard you can paste (Ctrl-V) it into any application thatsupports graphics (Windows Paint, other graphics programs, even yourfavorite word processor). The key does not print the screen.PrtScrn captures the whole screen, and Alt-PrtScrn captures the activewindow.Either one captures the image to the Windows clipboard. Butin all versions of Windows, this works differently, and the name ofthe key is now an anachronism. What might that be? Thanks.Back in the days of DOS, the PrtScn key used to print the screen. But I still need a program to paste the screenshot into. If that takes a picture of the screen then that is great.
